What documents will be required?
Basic sets of documents submitted to the Russian consulate/embassy to receive civil registry services:
a joint application from the parents who are married at the time of the child’s birth, or from one of the parents if he is the only one or is not married to the second parent at the time of the child’s birth
International passports and/or internal passports of both parents or a single parent. If you have both valid passports, you must provide both
medical certificate about the birth of a child from the organization where the birth took place, duly certified and translated into Russian (if necessary)
marriage certificate or joint statement of parents establishing paternity (if they are not married)
statement on behalf of the adoptive parents (adoptive parent)
court decision on adoption of a child
international passports and/or internal passports of adoptive parents. If you have both valid passports, you must provide both
One of the following documents:
a joint application from the father and mother of the child who were not married at the time of the child’s birth, or two separate ones if one of the applicants is unable to appear at the consulate in person. In this case, the signature on his application must be notarized
statement of the child’s father, who is not married to his mother at the time of the child’s birth, in the event of the mother’s death, recognition of her as legally incompetent, lack of information about her place of stay or deprivation of her parental rights, as well as with the consent of the guardianship and trusteeship authority
an application based on a court decision to establish paternity or to establish the fact of recognition of paternity, which has entered into legal force
And:

when filed by one of the spouses: an application and a decision (sentence) of the court in which the other spouse is declared missing, incompetent or sentenced to a term of more than 3 years

a document confirming the fact of death, issued by a medical organization or a private practitioner, or a court decision to establish the fact of death or to declare a person deceased
international passport and/or internal passport of the deceased (foreign passport). If you have both passports, then you need to provide both
